Has anyone here that has been diagnosed with MMN had muscles spasm in the chest back and stomach regions???
I'm in between doctors at the moment, my 1st diagnosis was ALS, then Bone/Blood Cancer, then MMN which I went through 2 months of IVIG Treatments with no results.
Just wondering if anyone with MMN has had muscle spasms in the areas listed above...

I think spasm can refer to any involuntary muscle contraction, so I'll just enumerate every kind I have and let you decide which (if any) are applicable to your situation. :)
I was diagnosed with MMN about nine months ago, with symptoms starting about nine months before that. Since then I have experienced twitches all over, including chest and stomach. These single, brief muscle contractions are not painful and only occur when the muscle is at rest. I don't know how common this is or even if it is MMN-related.
I also get fasciculations, which I experience as weak, brief, usually repeated contractions. I only get these in the extremities. They are quite common in MMN.
I am also prone to cramps in the extremities and, very occasionally, the side of my chest (feels like it is between ribs). These are painful and generally triggered by contracting an overexerted muscle. They may be normal as they started long before I had any MMN symptoms, though I think they have increased since.
As you may already know, not all cases of MMN respond to IVIg: the rate is usually estimated to be 80-90%. Unfortunately there is no definitive test for MMN.
I hope your next doctor can get to the bottom of your symptoms.

Definitely get cramps there - usually triggered by some kind of overexertion and then trying to use the affected muscle with a little too much force. I can usually feel them about to come on and provide force to extend the muscle and get the cramp to relax. Often correlated with being dehydrated as well.
Full list of muscles I can trigger to cramp:
calves
hamstrings
biceps
wrist flexors
finger flexors
truncal flexors
occasionally, neck and back muscles
doesn't happen too often - but i'll definitely have days where i'm getting more than usual
I have fasciculations, cramps, and I guess what you could call spasms frequently along my left rib cage and left pectoral muscle. Also in my shoulders and back. Almost all over, actually. The fasciculations have been spreading for years; they started just in my upper left quadrant (my symptoms started in my left hand) and now I get them all over. The soles of my feet always look like there are things crawling around under the skin, though there is no sensation of it. If I try to grasp something too tightly with my fingers, my hand cramps into a fist and I have to forcibly unpeel each finger.
Isn't this fun?

I do get cramping at top of right rib cage. It comes on about like in "dulles"'s reply.
Just about all my fingers cramp whenever they seem to get the urge. I am still working on pain in my left thigh that seemed to come on from pushing myself too much over the holidays. It has caused me to use a cane and sit at my computer too much...but I couldn't be more thankful for the computer......make sense? : )

I experienced chest pain that got worse over 2 days. I thought it was heart burn but I never get that. Pain was like a knife stab in the center of my chest. Went to the ER and testing showed no heart attack, no blood clots and no infection. Stayed in the ER for 24 hours under observation and then released with the DX of pulled chest muscle. I guess it is possible under a weakened condition that muscle pulls can occur.

I am checking in again, my last post here being 2 yrs ago. I receive 40g of IVIG every 10 days and a boost of 140g over 3 days every 6 months or so. I just finished a boost. My cramps have gotten worse but will hopefully subside after this boost. I now get painful cramping in my left shoulder and back. I can lay in bed and feel the muscles start to twist together and pull the shoulder up. It is painful. I also have cramps in my calves and feet that have gotten worse and some nights it just takes the back of my leg touching the bed to start a cramp.
No, Twitchyfirefly, this is not any fun at all.
