I am a 66 year old male that has just been diagnosed with MMN. I have yet to meet with the neurologist since the diagnosis - scheduled for 5-5-17.
I have been trying to find out a little about this as my symptoms do not seem to mirror what I have read on the internet. I have been experiencing weakness and tiring in my legs and my stability (balance) is a little wobbly. I show no symptoms in my hands or arms. This has only appeared over the past 5 to 6 months. About 2 1/2 months ago I was concerned so I went to see my GP. He referred me to a neurologist but I could not get an appointment for 2 months so he sent me for an MRI to eliminate a brain tumor or stroke. Since my initial appointment with the neurologist I have had an EMG resulting in being sent out for blood testing and another MRI plus an MRA and ultrasound. The neurologist wanted testing for Pompe so blood was sent to Duke for the test. I believe the results of the testing at Duke resulted in the MMN diagnosis.
As indicated, I have yet to receive any treatment but am concerned over the diagnosis of MMN. Any clarification shared would be greatly appreciated.
